Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has flagged off the construction of a 6.5-kilometer road at Malisa village in Gwandu Local Government Area. This project, costing N565,748,237, is part of the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
During the flag-off ceremony, Governor Idris explained that the road will connect Malisa to Kurya and Maruda villages within Gwandu Local Government Area. He highlighted the significance of this project, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to rural transformation and agricultural development.
“Today, we mark a significant milestone in our journey to rural transformation and agricultural development. The flag-off ceremony for the construction of rural roads is a testament to our commitment to uplifting our rural communities and unlocking their potential,” Governor Idris said.
He acknowledged the critical role agriculture plays in the state’s economy and the lives of its people, while also recognizing the challenges rural communities face in accessing markets, transportation, and essential services. To address these challenges, the administration has identified 300 kilometers of roads for upgrade and proper reconstruction in the first phase of the rural transformation agenda.
“This road we are flagging off today is one of these roads, and we will continue until all our rural roads are upgraded and rehabilitated. I am committed to ensuring that our rural communities are not left behind. We will continue to invest in rural infrastructure, agriculture, and social services to create a prosperous and inclusive future for all our people,” Governor Idris stated.
He urged the contractor to ensure quality work and timely delivery, stressing that the state government would closely monitor the project.
In addition to this, Governor Idris also flagged off another road construction project from Rini village, passing through Gidan-Jodi to Garu town in Augie Local Government Area.
Earlier, the Project Coordinator of RAAMP in Kebbi State, Engr. Idris Adamu, mentioned that the 6.5-kilometer road project flagged off by the Governor is expected to be completed within 12 months at a total cost of N565,748,237.
